KAMAZ PLANT TO SELL USD733m OF ITS VEHICLES IN 2001

NABEREZHNYE CHELNY, Tatarstan, February 21 (AVN) - The board of directors of the Kama automobile plant (KamAZ) summed up the enterprise's results of 2000 and approved its business plan for 2001 on Wednesday, the KamAZ public relations centre told the Military News Agency.

KamAZ Director General Ivan Kostin said in his speech that the plant sold RUR13.5bn (USD471.04m) worth of its products last year, which is 103 percent of the plan. The enterprise made 22,054 trucks and 33,0604 cars which is 107 and 112 percent of the plan respectively. The cost of RUR1 of products made RUR0.891 and profits from the basic activity made RUR1.6bn (USD55.83m). The plant paid back its wage arrears in full.

The 2001 business plan envisages production and sale of RUR21bn (USD732.73m) worth of vehicles, including 26,000 trucks and 37,800 cars, an official of the public relations centre said. Besides, KamAZ is planning to start production of trucks with axial load out up to 13t, bus chassis, high-capacity buses and wheeled tractors. The profitability level should exceed 10 percent.
