MAKHACHKALA, February 21 (AVN) - Dagestan recruited about 6,000 residents to the Army and Navy in the autumn 2000 draft, Lieutenant-General Magomed Tinamagomedov, military commissioner of the republic, told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The draft plan is fully implemented, including in the Botlikh and Tsumadinsky districts, which were invaded by Chechen guerrillas and Wahhabis in August 1999, Tinamagomedov said. The situation is under full control there now and servicemen of district commandant companies are working with the local youth trying to strip if off the Wahhabi influence. No draft dodgers or deserters were registered there.
Having summed up draft results, Dagestan will take measures to improve the professional training of recruits, including in the system of the Russian Defence Sport and Technical Organisation (ROSTO), Tinamagomedov said. Doctors will pay more attention to future soldiers' and sailors' health too.
