ARMY AVIATION HELIS FLY 32 SORTIES IN CHECHNYA SINCE THURSDAY

KHANKALA, February 23 (AVN) - Federal SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes have flown two combat sorties in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus told the Military News Agency on Friday.

Army aviation helicopters conducted 32 missions, the spokesman said. MI-24 Hind helicopters convoyed three military columns and inflicted two air strikes on small rebel groups in the Vedeno district. MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo transport helicopters airlifted 72 people and more than 2t of cargo in the interests of the federal group.

Two IL-76 Candid transport planes carried 298 servicemen and 15t of technical cargo from the area of operations to central Russia.
