MOSCOW, February 23 (AVN) - Envoys of the CIS Collective Security Treaty members will meet in Moscow on February 27 under supervision of Valery Nikolayenko, secretary general of the Collective Security Council, a spokesman for the Council's secretariat told the Military News Agency on Friday.
The main aim of the meeting is to prepare for the joint session of defence ministers and interior ministers of the Treaty member nations which is to be held in Yerevan in the second half of May.
Another issue to be discussed is the situation in Central Asia and growing tensions at the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border resulting from the current civil war in Afghanistan. The session will discuss a plan of joint measures aimed at pooling efforts in the sphere of collective security for stabilising the situation in Central Asia.
The issue will be in the spotlight of the Collective Security Concil's next session, also planned for the second half of May.
