MOSCOW, February 23 (AVN) - An international conference on prevention of space militarisation will take place in Moscow under the UN auspices on April 11-14, a spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency.
The conference's motto is, "Space without arms as arena of peaceful co-operation in the 21st century". It is devoted to the 40th anniversary of the first manned space flight. Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated the event.
Main and central departments of the Defence Ministry have teamed up with the Russian Aviation and Space Agency and other interested agencies to prepare the conference, the spokesman said. It will be attended by officials of national space agencies, Defence Ministries, Interior Ministries, Academies of Science, leading R&D and training centres, commercial organisations related to space activities, as well as cosmonauts and astronauts.
