ST.PETERSBURG'S 300TH ANNIVERSARY TO BE CELEBRATED BY INTL NAVAL SHOW

MOSCOW, March 6 (AVN) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov signed an order to hold the International Naval Show in St. Petersburg in 2003, a spokesman for the government administration told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.

The Russian Shipbuilding Agency proposed to make the show, and the St. Petersburg government, which is to hold celebrations of the city's 300th anniversary in 2003, backed the idea.

Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov was appointed chairman of the committee arranging and preparing the show. The committee on military and technical co-operation with foreign states in co-ordination with the Russian Foreign Ministry was ordered to inform interested foreign partners on the date of the show. The Rosoboronexport state-owned enterprise is to involve potential customers of combat vessels into the show, to help participants with design of pavillions and demonstration of armament and military equipment samples.

The Federal Security Service and the Russian Interior Ministry will take state and public security measures during the show and its preparation. Expenses for the show are to be covered by sponsors.
