GROZNY BUS TOUCHES OFF LANDMINE, SEVEN LOCALS INJURED

KHANKALA, March 7 (AVN) - A bus with local residents has touched off an unidentified explosive device near a bridge across the Sunzha river in the Leninsky district of Grozny, a spokesman for the district commandant's office told the Military News Agency.

Seven people were injured by the blast. They were delivered to hospitals and qualified medical care was provided to them.

Rebels have detonated three landmines in the past 24 hours and one more explosive device was defused by sappers, the spokesman said citing data as of 10.00 Moscow time (0700 GMT).

Several emissaries of foreign centres which provide funds for extremists have arrived in Chechnya, a source in the unified federal headquarters told the agency. They handed over USD40,000 to the rebel group of warlord Rustam Surguev for arms purchase and as payment of terrorist acts. The group operates in the south-western Chechen Urus-Martan district.
