REBELS FIRE AT TWO APCs IN CHECHNYA IN PAST 24 HOURS

KHANKALA, March 11 (AVN) - Chechen rebels have fired at two federal APCs from a portable anti-tank grenade launcher and small arms during an operation carried out by an Interior Ministry unit in the Leninsky district of Grozny, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus said on Sunday.

No casualties were registered among federal servicemen, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.

Law-enforcers have seized seven grenade launchers, five grenade launcher rounds, four assault rifles, over 3,000 cartridges to small arms, seven shells, 28 mines to mortars, 20 grenades, about 0.5kg of TNT and detained 56 people for various violations, including two suspected rebels, during special operations in Chechnya in the past 24 hours.
