MOSCOW, March 12 (AVN) - A SU-24M Fencer frontline bomber crashed near the airfield in Mozdok, the main federal base in the North Caucasus, at 23.55 Moscow time (2055 GMT) on Sunday, after accomplishing a flight mission, a spokesman for the Air Force Staff told the Military News Agency.
Two crew members are alive and well and there was no damage to ground installations, the spokesman said.
The flight took place in bad weather conditions. The plane was caught in heavy mist right before the final approach.
The commission led by Deputy Air Force Commander Colonel-General Vladimir Mikhailov is conducting investigation in the matter.
