KHANKAKA, March 12 (AVN) - Federal SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes have flown two sorties in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, hammering rebel groups in hard-to-reach mountainous areas of the Argun gorge, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency on Monday.
An AN-30 Clank air scout has flown one sortie in the past 24 hours. MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters convoyed three federal military collumns and launched a number of attacks on extremist installations in the south-eastern Chechen Vedeno district. MI-8 Hip helicopters accomplished five missions to conduct visual reconnaissance while Hips and MI-26 Halo transportation helis airlifted 74 people and 1.5t of cargo in the interests of the military and Chechnya's civil administration.
An IL-76 Candid and two AN-12 Cub transports flew to Mozdok, the main federal military base in the North Caucasus, and back to central Russia, carrying 310 servicemen, a piece of tracked ordnance and 7t of technical cargo.
