MOSCOW, March 13 (AVN) - A demonstration tactical exercise of the 137th paratrooper regiment of the 106th airborne division with practical landing and combat firing will take place on a training ground near Ryazan, central European Russia, from March 19 to 23, a spokesman for the General Staff told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The war games will be headed by Colonel-General Georgy Shpak, the airborne troops commander. They aim to practice the regiment's tactical operations and airdrop in the manoeuvre enemy's rear. Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin and a group of General Staff officers are planning to arrive at the training ground on March 21 to watch the airdrop and firing exercises of airborne fighting vehicles as part of formations.
Kvashnin will also speak before unit commanders, heads of army branches and airborne services, who will have a training during the exercises.
