TBILISI, March 13 (AVN) - Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, who is now on vacation in Yalta, says he may take part in a Georgian-Abkhazian confidence building meeting to be held in Yalta on Thursday and Friday, the UN Secretary General's Special Representative in Georgia Dieter Boden told reporters.
According to Boden, Ukraine is interested in speedy settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian crisis and attaches great importance to the Yalta meeting.
A session of the UN Security Council is scheduled for March 21 and it will deal with the results of the Yalta meeting. Ukraine, which has chaired the UN Security Council since March, is interested in the soonest progress in this sphere. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Anatoly Zlenko visited Tbilisi and Sukhumi to acquaint himself with the positions of the parties. According to the data obtained by the Military News Agency, Zlenko raised a question of Ukraine's participation in the peacekeeping operation in Abkhazia in the course of the talks.
