DUSHANBE, March 19 (AVN) - A delegation of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly is currently negotiating with Tajik lawmakers over military and political situation in Central Asia, as well as on legal backing of combating terrorism, the Military News Agency learned on Monday.
The delegation is led by Yevgeny Zelenov, member of the defence committee in the State Duma lower house of Russian parliament. Delegation members have met the leaders of both houses of Tajik parliament, Defence Minister Sherali Hairullayev, Russia's 201st motorised rifle division commander Major-General Valentin Orlov and made a working trip to the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border.
CIS lawmakers will soon leave for the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek to discuss a number of model laws and legal backing of measures against international terrorism and extremism with their Kyrgyz colleagues. The trip results will be summed up at an international conference which is to take place in St. Petersburg on April 18. The event will involve members of the Assembly and leaders of CIS law-enforcement bodies.
