FED SAPPERS DISARM 29 EXPLOSIVE DEVICES IN CHECHNYA IN 24 HOURS

KHANKALA, March 21 (AVN) - Federal police have registered 23 attacks on federal positions and installations, including one on a train, in Chechnya during the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.

Sappers disarmed 29 explosive devices, including two landmines, on the way of federal military convoys and civil vehicles on Tuesday, said the spokesman. They cleared five buildings and 150 meters of the underground communications in Grozny and Gudermes, as well as more then 20 hectares of cultivated fields in the Gudermes district.

The military say that federal scouting groups liquidated two blindages, three observation points and two caches with arms and ammunition during search operations in forests and mountains of Chechnya. As many as 17 suspected rebels have been detained during the past 24 hours.

Locals of the Vedeno district showed the federals a cache with 10kg explosive devices and two Kalashnnikov assault rifles.
