UKRAINIAN AIR FORCE GETS NO CERTIFIED PILOTS THIS YEAR

KHARKOV, Ukraine, April 2 (AVN) - Graduates of the Kharkov Military Pilots Institute will not receive full diplomas in 2001, a spokesman for the institute's administrative department told the Military News Agency on Monday.

The institute is Ukraine's only higher educational establishment which trains specialists for the national Air Force. Its work has been flawless in the past 70 years.

The institute's would-be graduates failed to fly the needed minimum of 120 hours due to dramatic lack of fuel. The same factor effectively disrupted the military probation, for no cadet managed to take off. That is why the students will be offered to graduate with a bachelor's diploma or switch to other "non-flying" departments and continue studies.
