MOSCOW, April 3 (AVN) - Inspection of military installations that do not belong to Russian military bases in Georgia finished on Tuesday in accordance with the timetable, a spokesman for the Russian Defence ministry told the Military News Agency.
The inspection was carried out in line with the protocol of the sixth leg of Russian-Georgian military negotiations held in Moscow on March 23-24, 2001. The Russian delegation was headed by Major General Arkady Bakhin, chief-of-staff of the Russian troops group in the Trans-Caucasus, while the Georgian team was led by Major General Temuri Loria, deputy defence minister.
The list of Russian military installations that do not belong to military bases includes all military communities, firing areas and shooting ranges in Georgia, with the exception of the troops group headquarters in Tbilisi, the Zvezda command post in the town of Mtsekhta, and a military community of the radio relay point of the 66th communications node in the village of Kodzhori.
Basing on the results of the inspection, the Russian side should, by April 23, come up with well-founded proposals on operation, including joint, of military installations that do not belong to Russian bases. The military experts of both sides will have to co-ordinate the list of these installations, which are to remain under Russian authority until May 1, 2001.
