ST.PETERSBURG, April 3 (AVN) - The Arsenal design bureau, known for its space equipment engineering, has started introduction of its system that makes trains and subway noiseless and vibrationless, a bureau spokesman told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The designers suggested that piston compressor systems now in operation responsible for noise and vibration should be replaced with the mechanism that utilises the helical system principle. According to Nikolai Antonov, chief of the bureau's civil products laboratory, the system can be used with trams and trolley buses as well.
The design bureau has spent own money to develop the promising system so far. If it is successfully implemented in the Sokol high-speed train, which is to start operating between Moscow and St. Petersburg, the design bureau thinks substantial investment in the project is possible.
