MOSCOW, April 4 (AVN) - The Yakovlev design bureau will exhibit the mock-up cockpit of the production YAK-130 trainer at the MAKS 2001 international aerospace show that is to be held in the Moscow region from August 14 to 19, a spokesman for the bureau directorate said on Wednesday.
The mock-up cockpit will feature a set of on-board radar equipment designed by the Elektroavtomatika enterprise in St. Petersburg, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. For instance, six liquid-crystal indicators - three for each crew member - will be installed on the plane.
Development and tests of the YAK-130 on-board equipment have been almost completed. The new devices are modifications of the basic on-board equipment installed on SU-30MKI Flanker type fighters.
The first YAK-130D demonstration plane is currently fitted with simplified on-board equipment "of the 1995 standards" which is only intended for measuring the aircraft's main characteristics. YAK-130D has made 315 flights spending a total of 236 hours in the air. It will resume flights after preventive maintenance on May 15.
The aircraft is expected to make several demonstration flights during the MAKS show, the spokesman said.
