STAVROPOL, April 5 (AVN) - Servicemen of the North Caucasus regional border guard department have banned 59 people from crossing the border since Wednesday, a spokesman for the department headquarters told the Military News Agency.
Among those who were denied passage were 19 people going to or from Dagestan and 25 people going to or from Vladikavkaz, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.
A citizen of Azerbaijan leaving Russia was detained at the Yarag-Kazmalyar checkpoint for producing an alien passport. The violator was taken to the border guard detachment headquarters for identification.
Another Azerbaijani citizen, Shikhali Mamedov, was detained at the Verkhny Lars checkpoint. He tried to enter Russia with an alien ID.
Servicemen of the Askaraisk-Zheleznodorozhny have been detaining violators for four days in a row, the spokesman said. They found two citizens of Azerbaijan hiding in the compartment above the car ceiling in a Dushanbe-Moscow train on Wednesday. Border guards claim the violators were assisted by the trainman. The violators are being identified and the trainman was fined and will be deported soon.
Another patrol checking a Moscow-Tashkent train found a 40kg box of medicines in the compartment above the car ceiling. The contraband was handed over to customs officers and the trainman was fined.
A patrol of the Lagan picket on the Caspian Sea spotted a ready-to-sail Progress-4 motor boat with the Vikhr-30 engine and 100m of sturgeon nets in the reeds. The boat and the nets were taken to the picket.
A guard cutter of the Caspian naval border guard brigade swept 500m of nets abeam the Izberbash picket. They also detained a Progress-2 motor boat with two poachers aboard.
Guard cutters operating in the area controlled by the Verbino picket of the Timashevo border guard commandant's office extracted 920m of nets with 1,800 hooks for obtaining sturgeons from the Azov Sea.
The general situation in the area controlled by the North Caucasus border guard department remains relatively calm, the spokesman said.
