ATTACK PLANES HAMMERING REBEL INSTALLATIONS IN CHECHEN MOUNTAINS

KHANKALA, April 12 (AVN) - Federal SU-25 Frogfoot planes have accomplished two sorties in Chechnya during the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquartersin the North Caucasus told the Military News Agency on Thursday.

The planes hammered targets exposed by land scouts in Chechen mountains, the spokesman said.

An AN-30 Clank air scout took off one time, while army helicopters flew 38 missions. MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters escorted five federal columns and a military train. MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo military transport helicopters airlifted 72 people and 4.5t load in the interest of the group and at the requests of local administrations.

An IL-76 Candid transport carried 199 servicemen and about two tons load from the combat area to central Russia.
