FIRST TRAIN WITH 234TH PARATROOPER REGIMENT TO LEAVE CHECHNYA WEDNESDAY

KHANKALA, April 18 (AVN) - The first military train with servicemen of the 234 paratrooper regiment of the 76th airborne division will leave from Khasavyurt, Dagestan, for Pskov, north-western Russia, on Wednesday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.

The regiment is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Teplinsky. The train comprises over 400 officers and enlisted men who accomplished missions in the North Caucasus for six months. They have been replaced in southern Chechnya by the 104th paratrooper regiment of the same division.

The second stage of airborne units rotation will be completed by April 30, the spokesman said. The second train with servicemen of the 234th regiment will leave for Pskov in late April.

The rotation takes place in accordance with a directive of Russian Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin and Airborne Commander Georgy Shpak.
