BORDER GUARD SPECIAL EQUIPMENT EXHIBITION ENDS IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, April 20 (AVN) - An exhibition of special equipment and arms timed to the research and practical conference on the main trends in technical equipping bodies and forces of the Federal Border Guard Service (FBGS) ended in Moscow's R&D training technical centre on Friday.

The exhibition featured products of 14 Russian enterprises producing promising communication means, IR imagers, new-generation night sights for small arms, equipment for detection and tracking of objects in complicated weather conditions 24 hours a day, other equipment for law-enforcement agencies.

Participants of the conference paid major attention to the latest developments of the Zagorsk optical and mechanical plant located in the town of Sergiyev Pasad, Moscow region, and headed by Director General Sharid Sharafutdinov. According to Alexander Abramov, the plant's deputy chief constructor, the enterprise has developed a spectrum of optical and electronic detection and sighting devices of Generations Two Plus and Three.

Among the plant's latest are the MB night monocular for commanders of small formations such as squad or platoon operating out of contact with the main forces or in the enemy's rear, Abramov told the Military News Agency. The device is fully leakproof and moistureproof, which is very important for combat operations in rainy weather and for overcoming streams.

MB is an optical-electronic device operating in both active and passive modes, i.e. it has illumination. It has a magnification of two power and weights only 300g. The range of IR illumination is 100m, range of detection 100 to 800m, field of vision 25 degrees. According to Abramov, the device's market price will not exceed USD100m.
