KALININGRAD, April 23 (AVN) - The Baltic Fleet has completed complex combat training of vessels at the sea, a spokesman for the fleet headquarters told the Military News Agency on Monday.
The training involved over 50 vessels that performed more than 160 missile, torpedo and artillery fires and planted manoeuvre mines. Naval aviation pilots flew over 50 sorties.
Baltic Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Vladimir Valuyev went to sea for the first time since his appointment to the post. He sailed on the Nastoichivyj destroyer. The sea stage of the training showed that "in spite of all difficulties the vessels' material base and the crews' readiness permit the fleet to accomplish all assigned missions," Valuyev said.
