MOSCOW ENTERPRISE PRODUCES NEW PORTABLE IR IMAGER

MOSCOW, April 23 (AVN) - The local Matrix Technologies JS has created the Lik-2 portable IR imager, Sergei Lyapunov, the enterprise's chief executive officer, told the Military News Agency on Monday.

Lik-2 is a high sensitive compact IR imager which transforms invisible IR emission into visual images that can be seen in the eyeglass. The device is intended for reconnaissance and observation in daytime and at night, as well as in bad weather conditions such as mist, rain and snow.

Lik-2 can also be used to secretly guard installations without application of unmasking illumination, especially at night. Besides, the new device of generation two plus will be used by the Emergencies Ministry for search and rescue works for it can find people's IR emission, including in smoke or total darkness. The new device's specifications are in nor way inferior to those of foreign developments.

The device's camera weights about 2kg, its mass with lens, viewfinder and battery is some 3kg and the power consumption is 9W. The device can work without breaks for six to eight hours. Its analogue was tested in Chechnya and proven highly efficient. The export variant of the device will cost USD8,000-10,000 depending on the number of ordered devices. According to experts, this sum is lower than that charged for similar foreign devices.
