INTERIOR MINISTRY SETS UP 130 VILLAGE POLICE DEPTS IN CHECHNYA

MOSCOW, April 24 (AVN) - The Russian Interior Ministry has set up 130 village police departments in Chechnya, Major General Nikolai Pershutkin, head of the Interior Ministry main public order protection department, said on Modnay.

Establishment of law-enforcement bodies is in progress in 16 out of Chechnya's 18 districts, Pershutkin told the Military News Agency. Police departments are being established on the bases of temporary federal police bodies and Interior Ministry troops units. Besides, 18 temporary and 12 permanent district police departments are operating in the breakaway republic.
