KHANKALA, April 24 (AVN) - Federal scouts have found two rebel groups, which tried to escape without engaging, a spokesman for unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus said on Tuesday.
The rebel groups were caught in mortar fire and almost fully eliminated, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.
Federals registered 17 attacks on their position and installation, three explosions, including one under an APC and another under a truck, on Monday. Sappers disarmed 21 explosive devices, including two landmines in the ways of military columns and civil traffic. Engineering formations clearned of mines five ruined buildings in Grozny and checked 18ha of cropland.
Also on Monday, servicemen detained nine suspected guerrillas during search operations and confiscated 27 pieces of arms from guerrilla caches and locals.
