PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, April 26 (AVN) - The Russian-US joint naval training in Kamchatka ended ahead of schedule due to the illness of the US delegation leader, Admiral Thomas Barrett, a spokesman for the North-eastern regional border guard department told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
Due to stomach troubles Barrett could not complete the training supervision and take part in a news conference. However the parties will sign documents on further bilateral co-operation anyway, the spokesman said.
The US delegation comprises the 195-strong crew of the Boutwell guard ship, six crew members of the accompanying plane and nine officials of the North-eastern border guard department. US Council General in the Far East Lizbeth Rikkerman arrived here as well. During the training border guards practised a rescue and search operation, communication with signals, call signs and radio frequencies.
