MOSCOW, April 27 (AVN) - The Air Force Staff hosted a session of the Air Force military council that discussed results of the service's financial and economic activity and measures to improve the service's financial and economic backing on Friday.
The session also considered implementation of the capital construction and capital repair plans and other issues.
The council's resolution on the first issue notes that the Defence Ministry financial inspection revised the Air Force financial, economic and production activity from January to March 2001 and exposed embezzlement of a total of RUR725.9m (USD25m).
As many as 71 percent of the sum were embezzled in the Air Force chief of armament's administration, nine percent in the Moscow air force and air defence district, four percent in the 11th air force and air defence army, three percent in the administration of the Air Force construction, engineering backing and quartering chief, 1.5 percent in the Air Force rear and one percent in the 832nd training centre.
The council recommended bringing to justice the officials responsible for embezzlement and firing them if necessary.
Considering the second issue, the council noted that the 2000 plan was implemented by 103.2 percent. A total of 4,462 flats with the total area of 295,900 square metres were acquired using all sources of financing in 2000.
