CHITA, Southern Siberia, May 3 (AVN) - The military prosecutor's office of the Siberian military district is investigating the murders of Senior Lieutenant Boris Valov and Major-General Sergei Bayev, the district's military prosecutor, Colonel Oleg Gallyamov, told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
Two active duty servicemen, Privates Konstantin Terekhov and Pyotr Mozgunov, left their military unit without authorisation on Wednesday, seized Valov's pistol and killed the senior lieutenant. Later they killed Bayev, head of the district's training centre, who became major-general on February 23, 2001.
Investigation activities continue the detention of the criminals, Gallyamov said. It is already clear that the deserters neither had any concrete plan nor thought of premeditated murder. "Any person could be in Mozgunov's place at that fatal moment," Gallyamov stressed.
