ROSTOV-ON-DON, May 3 (AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has promoted Lieutenant-General Valery Baranov, commander of the unified federal group in the North Caucasus, to the rank of colonel-general, a spokesman for the personnel department of the North Caucasus military district headquarters said on Thursday.
Putin also promoted two military commandants, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Gaidar Gadzhiyev, military commandant of the Urus-Martan district, and Alexander Pavlenko, military commandant of the Gudermes district, became major-generals.
