MINSK, May 3 (AVN) - The 140th repairing plant of the Belarussian Defence Ministry has produced the Kobra-S and Kobra-K combat vehicles made on the basis of the BMP-1 IFV and BTR-70 APC, Plant Director Colonel Vladimir Sakach told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
The vehicles production project was made by the Metapol company of Slovakia and the Logos company of Russia. Both vehicles have new turrets made in Slovakia as well as modern observation and aiming devices. The engine chamber was considerably re-built and other modernisations were made. Those modernisations helped to increase combat capacities of both vehicles.
New vehicles will be demonstrated at the defence industry exhibition which is to be held here on May 15 to 18. Moreover, the plant specialists plan to exhibit modern computer training systems for drivers of T-72B tank and BMP-3 IFV. All those training systems are made together by Belarussian, Russian and Slovak specialists. The recent combat tests evidenced the high efficiency of new training systems. The plant can launch continuous production of them if any orders appear.
