CIS DMs TO SUM UP RESULTS OF JOINT AIR DEFENCE CPX

MOSCOW, May 4 (AVN) - The CIS defence ministers will meet in Baku on May 18 to sum up results of the Commonwealth Southern Shield 2001 joint command post exercise (CPX) held here in April, a spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry said on Friday.

The session agenda contains 23 issues related to the CIS military and technical co-operation. Particularly, the ministers will discuss the draft of the joint military and technical co-operation programme, work plan of the military and scientific council under the CIS Military Co-operation Co-ordination Headquarters for 2001 and application of funds for setting up and developing the CIS Unified Air Defence System. They will also elaborate the concept of the Combat Co-operation 2001 joint tactical exercise with live firing, which will be held by the CIS air defence forces.

All CIS defence ministers expressed their intention to attend the session, a spokesman for the CIS Military Co-operation Co-ordination Headquarters told the Agency.
