NEW GUERRILLAS START TRAINING IN GEORGIAN CAMP

KHANKALA, May 7 (AVN) - The unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus is still getting intelligence data confirming that Chechen guerrilla camps are functioning in the Akhmeta district of Georgia, a spokesman for the headquarters told the Military News Agency on Monday.

A new rebel group comprising young locals of the south-eastern Chechen Vedeno district and mercenaries from Ukraine, Afghanistan and the Middle East has begun to train in one of such camps in the Pankisi gorge. The data was obtained from an informer in the Akhmeta district.

According to intelligence data obtained by the headquarters, it is planned to transport the trained rebels to Chechnya. They will man rebel groups in Grozny and the Shali district, where warlord Shamil Basayev's staff is planning to scale up sabotage and terrorist activities. Field commander Aslambek Abdulkhadzhiyev will head these operations in the Shali district.
