STAVROPOL, May 8 (AVN) - A border guard patrol of the Aksarajsk-Zheleznodorozhny checkpoint detained two illegal Afghan migrants during border clearance of a Tashkent-Moscow passenger train at about 01.00 Moscow time on Tuesday (2100 GMT on Monday), a spokesman for the North Caucasus regional border guard department told the Military news Agency.
One of the detainees tried to fool border guards and dressed as a train conductor when the train was approaching the checkpoint, the spokesman said.
Another border violation attempt was registered at the Derbent-Zheleznodorozhny checkpoint some time earlier. Border guards found 1,000 boxes of medicine in a car with humanitarian cargo going from Estonia to Georgia through Russia. The car sent by the Estonian branch of the Red Cross to the Georgian branch of that organisation was to contain only sunflower oil. The cargo was detained and information about it was provided to the Russian State Customs Committee and Dagestani law-enforcement bodies. Investigation is underway.
