MOSCOW, May 23 (AVN) - The Russian government approved at its Wednesday session the federal law "Concerning the Ratification of the Agreement on Main Principles of the Military-Technical Co-operation between the Collective Security Treaty Member States", the governmental information department reported.
The law will be sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin for approval.
The agreement was signed in Moscow on June 20, 2000, by leaders of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The document states that the supplies of the military purpose products on deferred payments are provided in the interests of military formations given by the treaty member states to multilateral forces and means in the collective security regions. Though the agreement has some rules that do not come along with the Russian Tax Code article which does not envisage the tax-free advance payments provided for production and supplies of the military purpose products on deferred payments. The agreement ratification should happen also in accordance with the federal law "Concerning the Russian Federation International Agreements."
The agreement implementation does not demand the allocation of additional means from the federal budget.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the agreement's coming into force corresponds the Russian national interests, will enable the country to provide further strengthening of military and political integration under the auspices of the treaty and form the demanded conditions for the organisation of effective system of collective security needed to combat threats from the international terrorism in Central Asia.
