INTERIOR MINISTRY SAPPERS CHECK 740km OF MOTORWAYS IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, May 25 (AVN) - Engineering units of the Interior Ministry troops reconnoitred 740km of motorways in six districts of Chechnya on Thursday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus told the Military News Agency.

Field engineers defused six landmines, four makeshift explosive devices, seven anti-personnel mines and four ready-to-explode grenade launcher rounds. They also seized 12 82mm mortar shells, 440 metres of electric wire, 52 electric detonators, two radio mine control points and 8kg of explosives.

Sappers of the railway troops checked 219km of railroad and adjacent territories including the Terek-Naurskoye span and several sections of the Khankala-Mozdok span. Sappers also defused 12 explosive devices during the day.
