LAND FORCES CHIEF ENDS INSPECTION OF CHECHNYA-BASED MOTORIFLE DIVISION

KNANKALA, June 6 (AVN) - Colonel General Nikolai Kormiltsev, Land Forces commander and deputy defence minister, has ended a working trip to the 42nd motorised rifle division stationed in Chechnya on a permanent basis, the Military News Agency learned on Wednesday.

Kormiltsev worked in the Shali, Kalinovskaya and Khankala garrisons for four days. He checked the manning level, state of combat readiness and armament in the division, visited tactical and special training classes in formations accomplishing combat missions, serving at checkpoints and pickets.

Having summed up results of the inspection Kormiltsev held a meeting with the division command. Speaking about the progress of training, accomodation of the division and the state of its materiel base, he said that the unit was fully prepared for accomplishing stabilisation missions in the region. The level of its combat readiness fully matches requirements, Kormiltsev stressed.
