KHANKALA, June 6 (AVN) - Sappers of the Russian railway troops prevented a terrorist act at the Mozdok-Gudermes railway span in Chechnya on Wednesday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
A landmine made on the basis of three 152mm artillery shells was planted 15km west of Khankala, the spokesman said. It was to have blasted at about 6.00 Moscow time (0200 GMT) under the wheels of a freight train. However sappers spotted and defused the device at 4.30 Moscow time (0030 GMT).
Field engineers of the railway troops defused two landmines and restored 10km of railway tracks on Tuesday.
