THREE REBELS KILLED NEAR CHECHNYA'S VASHINDAROY

KHANKALA, June 7 (AVN) - Chechen rebels fired small arms and underbarrel grenade launchers at federal positions and installations 14 times on Wednesday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.

Three guerrillas were eliminated in a shootout near the Vashindaroy village, the spokesman said. A rebel cache with three sniper rifles and twenty-seven 122mm and 152mm artillery shells was spotted on the outskirts of the Dargo village.

Servicemen of the Interior Ministry troops destroyed two guerrilla field camps in the Vedeno district. The camps were fitted with observation points, dug-outs, installations for housing a medical centre and dining room, and facilities for storing ammo, materiel, food and water.

Federals detained 12 suspected rebels, destroyed 47 illegal oil refineries and seized 30t of fuel and lubricants on Wednesday, the spokesman said.
