MOSCOW, June 7 (AVN) - Ten tank shots have been fired from the Afghan Kazar village at the Farkhor-Kokul crossing on the Panj (Pyanzh) River located in the Mrea controlled by the Moscow border guard detachment, a spokesman for the Federal Border Guards Service (FBGS) told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
Two rounds hit the territory 500 metres from the border and the rest fell in the Panj River holm. No casualties or damages were registered. Observation over the site was scaled up.
Ongoing warfare on the Afghan side of the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border has led to systematic fire strikes at refugee camps on the islands on the river. The rounds hitting the Tajik territory pose a threat to the Russian border guards and often damage border barriers. As many as 15 Afghan shells and mines have fallen on the Tajik territory this year. They damaged engineering and technical installations on several sections of the border, the spokesman said.
