KHANKALA, June 8 (AVN) - Chechen rebels staged two blasts and attacked police formations and Interior Ministry troops units 22 times on Thursday, wounding one policeman, a spokesman for the ministry's department for Chechnya told the Military News Agency.
An explosive device went off under a Niva jeep with two officers of the Gudermes police department in the Leninsky district of Grozny at 16.25 Moscow time (1025 GMT). The jeep was damaged but the policemen were not hurt.
A makeshift explosive device blasted under a vehicle of the miliyary column with foodstuffs 2km from the Nikolayevskaya village in the Naursky district at 13.25 Moscow time (0925 GMT). The jeep was damaged, but no casualties were registered.
An unmounted elite police patrol was attacked at the central market in the Leninsky district of Grozny at 18.00 Moscow time (1400 GMT). The patrol commander was wounded. A riffle with seven 7.62mm cartridges was found in the building from where the fire was provided.
Policemen carried out 15 search and preventive operations in Chechnya on Thursday, the spokesman added. They checked 23,244 people and 12,619 vehicles and exposed 577 administrative offences, including 146 violations of passport rules.
The police seized an assault rifle, five grenade launchers, a pistol, five hunting rifles, 47 hand grenades and grenade launcher rounds, six mortar and 18 artillery shells, 877 small-arms cartridges and 0.8kg of explosives. Besides, four illegal oil refineries were eliminated.
Residents of the Gikalovsky, Alkhan-Kal, Khatuni, Komsomolskoye, Goity, Kurchaloi and Makhkety villages gave up an assault rifle, a Nagan revolver, four hunting rifles, a hand grenade, two grenade launcher rounds and a mortar shell voluntarily.
