RUSSIAN, GEORGIAN BORDER GUARD CHIEFS TO MEET IN TBILISI JULY 10-12

TBILISI, June 9 (AVN) - Lieutenant General Valery Chkheidze, chief of the Georgian state border guard department, and Konstantin Totsky, director of the Federal Border Guard Service (FBGS), will meet here next week to discuss maintenance of security on the Georgia-Russia border and increase in the efficiency of combating Chechen rebels, a spokesman for the Georgian department said on Saturday.

The officials will meet at a regular session of the CIS border guard chiefs council which is to be held here from July 10 to 12, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.

In a telephone conversation with Chkheidze Totsky confirmed his participation in the session as well as his readiness to hold constructive bilateral negotiations.
