JUSTICE MINISTRY UNITS GUARDING COURTS IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, June 9 (AVN) - The detention centre in the Chernokozovo village currently holds almost 200 people, a spokesman for the Russian Justice Ministry operations group headquarters in Chechnya told the Military News Agency on Saturday.

Some 80 percent of those people were detained for possession or sale of drugs, several people for illegal arms stockpiling and the rest for theft. According to the spokesman, restoration of the penitentiary colony is underway in the village.

The group has been assigned a new task which is to guard courts. It has placed its posts in the Supreme Court of Chechnya, Gudermes city court, district courts in the Zavodskoy district of Grozny, Nozhai-Yurt and the Naurskaya village. The ministry's servicemen will start guarding the courts in the Benoi-Yurt and Shali villages in the near future as well as eight more district courts some time later.
