FEDERAL MI-24 HIND HELIS INFLICT 4 AIR STRIKES ON REBELS IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, June 13 (AVN) - Federal SU-24 Fencer frontline bombers flew two sorties over Chechnya on Tuesday while a SU-25 Frogfoot attack plane accomplished one combat mission, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus told the Military News Agency.

MI-8 Hip helicopters with IR imagers flew two sorties and spotted 11 targets. MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters convoyed seven columns with arms and ordnance and inflicted four strikes on rebel groups in hard-to-reach mountainous districts. MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo transport helicopters airlifted 79 people and 8.5t of cargo in the interests of the federal group and at the requests from local administrations.

AN-12 Cub and AN-26 Curl planes delivered 98 people and 7t of technical cargo to Mozdok, the main federal base in the North Caucasus, and back to central Russia.
