VLADIVOSTOK, June 13 (AVN) - A South Korean military delegation will arrive here at the main base of the Russian Pacific Fleet on Friday, a spokesman for the fleet headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The delegation will be led by Major General Chang Ho-Kyn, vice president of the National Armed Forces University, the spokesman said. During the visit he will meet Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Mikhail Zakhatenko to discuss development of military co-operation. The visit's itinerary also envisaged the delegation's trips to a surface ship of the fleet and the Pacific Makarov Naval Institute.
Admiral Dennis Blair, Commander-in-Chief, US Pacific Command, will arrive in Vladivostok on June 20 at the invitation of the Russian Defence Ministry, the spokesman said. He will also meet the Pacific Fleet leadership over development of military co-operation, visit a surface ship and a marine unit.
The spokesman praised dynamic development of military co-operation with the US Pacific Command, saying that US military delegations and vessels have visited Vladivostok over 20 times and Russian Pacific Fleet servicemen visited the USA five times since 1990. Besides, the parties carried out several stages of the Naval Partnership joint exercise devoted to practising interaction in provision of aid to a disaster-stricken area.
