SAMARA, Volga Region, June 14 (AVN) - A commission of the Ural military district headquarters has started taking command over units of the Volga military district, a spokesman for the Volga district headquarters told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
The commission is led by Ural district commander Colonel General Alexander Baranov, the spokesman said.
The taking of command is the main stage of the two districts' unification. The commission will check combat condition of units, their equipment with arms and materiel and detect the place of combat and rear units in the structure of the unified district. Currently the commission is working in units stationed in the Samara region which are two motorised rifle and a helicopter regiments, a special purpose brigade, the Volga district training centre and two bases of arms and equipment stockpiling.
