IAPO AIRCRAFT PLANT SHAREHOLDERS ELECT NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS

IRKUTSK, June 15 (AVN) - Shareholders of the Irkutsk aircraft production association (IAPO) held a meeting and elected the board of directors here on Friday, a spokesman for the IAPO administration told the Military News Agency.

The board comprises representatives of the IAPO, Irkutsk region administration, Aerospace Equipment corporation, Sukhoi aircraft corporation, Sukhoi design bureau, Gromov flight research institute and Russian Savings Bank, the spokesman said. Irkutsk region Governor Boris Govorin was elected board chairman.

The meeting summed up results of the IAPO activities in 2000 and defined tasks for 2001 and more distant future. The enterprise carried out the required volume of work regarding supplies of the first ten SU-30MKI Flanker fighters to India last year, shareholders said. All the aircraft are being assembled, and seven are currently in the final assembly shops. Another three planes are being tested in the Sukhoi design bureau and one more will fly there soon. The IAPO has stated implementation on the contract on licensed production of SU-30MKI in India.

Besides, eight SU-27UBK Flanker planes were supplied to China in 2000. The second batch of the aircraft is in the final assembly shops. Development of the BE-200 amphibian is underway, and seven planes of that kind are already being assembled.

The enterprise carried out a huge volume of work related to modernisation of SU-27UB and SU-30 planes for the Russian Navy. Modernisation of the first two planes was financed out of the IAPO's own funds. These aircraft have been handed over for tests.

Inspections carried by the IAPO revision commission and interior auditing department, as well as by auditors from outside, have shown that the association's financial situation is stable. Its output grew 17 percent to over RUR5bn (USD171.82m) in 2000. The profits increased 26.3 percent.
