FED SPECIAL FORMATIONS DETAIN SIX REBELS IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, June 19 (AVN)) - Special formations of the federal forces have carried out a thoroughly planned operfation near the villages of Chishki and Yaryshmadry and detained six guerrillas involved in several terrorist acts against federal troops, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus said on Tuesday.

Later federals found three caches with arms and ammunition which belonged to the detained guerrillas on the bank of the Argun River. Another arms cache was found in a house of a Chishki resident while checking intelligence data. The owner of the house failed to explain how a large-calibre machine-gun, five assault rifles, two grenade launchers, 19 grenades and almost 5,000 cartridges had got into his house and was detained.

A report sent to the federal headquarters mentions one more detention of a rebel. The man who planned to take part in a night attack on a federal installation got into an ambush near a cache in the Dyshne-Vedeno village. He put up resistance and was eliminated.
