KHANKALA, June 20 (AVN) - Two rebels attempted at planting a landmine under the bridge across the Argun River in the village of Ushkaloi in Chechnya's Itum-Kale district on Wednesday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.

A federal detachment protecting the bridge opened fire at the rebels when they approached a pier, the spokesman said. As a result of a direct hit the landmine blasted in the hands of the extremists, killing both of them but causing no damage to the bridge.
