LE BOURGET, France, June 21 (AVN) - The Russian committee on military-technical co-operation with foreign countries has submitted to the government the updated list of pieces of arms and military equipment which are permitted to be exported, the committee's first deputy chairman, Alexander Denisov, told the Military News Agency here on Thursday.
Speaking about the arms included in the list, the decisions on their export will be made by the committee. They are to be co-ordinated only with General Staff and Foreign Ministry. Such system has been in force since December 1, 2000. It was introduced right after the committee was established.
Denisov noted that the committee was a federal agency and not a part of the Defence Ministry like the mass media sometimes claims. The committee personnel comprises 250 people, including 160 assigned officials of the ministry.
According to Denisov, the lists of arms will be signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the next two months which is to make the filling out of permissions for the arms export. The committee also proposed to update the list no less than once a year but not to change it dramatically.
